Before we begin we wish to apologise for our recent filament stock shortages.
We have looked into our stock levels and are holding much higher spool numbers now. We also just received the first truck load of our new spools that are now 20cm wide with a 5.2cm centre hole. We have also refined and improved the already high quality of the our pla 1.75 range, check them out online now!

A Word about 3mm
We are winding down our 3mm range. Sorry, but sales of 3mm are less than 1% of the 1.75mm, so we are finding it hard to justify production. We will continue to stock 5 colours: black, red, blue, glow blue and white in both PLA and ABS 3mm; but no more mix packs.

Replicator 2 vs 2X take home packMakerBot Replicator 2 vs 2X

Bilby CNC is often asked what are the differences between the MakerBot Replicator 2 and 2X? Which one should you buy?
We have made it easy for you. We have studied and tested these machines thoroughly and produced an in depth analysis article for you to all read online now: Makerbot Replicator 2 vs 2x - Downloadable article

In short the Replicator 2 wins hands down for resolution capabilities, reliability, and ability to print overhangs. This is primarily a result of the tremendous impact the filament fan pays in quick setting the filament as you print. The second nozzle also does no favours to print quality in the 2x (or any dual extruding machine)….but enough spoilers, read the article for all the detail, lots of photo close ups and nitty gritty detail.

Want more? Want to touch and feel the samples in the article for yourself? You can buy the info pack, see the differences for yourself and make an informed choice. This pack includes 5 sample prints from the Replicator 2 and 2X and a full color printout of the 4 page article explaining the differences between the prints and print quality : Replicator 2 Vs 2X evaluation take home pack

5 new 3D printers to choose from - introducing the Mbot3D printers

The new Mbot Cube II

These 5 machines make great entry level machines for tinker hobbiests!

Mbot have provided us five great, cheap machines with a huge build volume: 200x200x200mm = 8 litres!

There are both dual and single head varieties ranging from only $1175.These machines offer a new type of build platform that is made in Switzerland which requires no heating, kapton or blue tape for either PLA or ABS!

Printing down to a 100 mircon layer height these machines produce admiral results.

These machines have an LCD display, control pad and SD slot. They run off a modified version of the ReplicatorG software, which is more difficult to use than the Makerware software (by Makerbot), but well documented online.

These machines are defiantly not as good as the Makerbot machines in strength, reliability, or ease of use; but still a great entry level machine for the home user on a budget, or the experienced user looking for a cheap machine to experiment with.
